PROMOTORA DE LAS BELLAS ARTES AND CETYS UNIVERSIDAD BEGIN THE “CABA” HOUSE OF FINE ARTS PROJECT

Through a symbolic ceremony, a generous donor and the two institutions formalized the commitment to build a venue to serve the community through art.

Tijuana, Baja California, August 28, 2023.- The union between Promotora de las Bellas Artes, A.C. (PBA) and CETYS Universidad has given rise to a project that redefines how the Baja California community will embrace art, access to cultural rights and the education of children, teenagers, and young people. Under the emblematic motto “Sembrar el Futuro,” an event was held to celebrate the placement of a mesquite tree as a founding symbol of Casa de las Bellas Artes “CaBA.”

 

Designed by the renowned architectural firm Studio Huerta, the Casa de las Bellas Artes will be located on the Tijuana Campus of CETYS Universidad, “CaBA” will consist of a community space that will appeal to its name house, a place of belonging- and will offer education art aimed at the communities served by PBA, as well as CETYS students.

Placing a mesquite tree to mark the start of construction symbolizes the commitment and union of two entities with goals aware that art and education can transform lives. CaBA will become a place where creativity, education, and nature intertwine with a tree that will witness the evolution of this project in the coming years.

 

During the ceremony, there was the presence of the Founding President of the PBA Council, Mrs. Alida Guajardo; Dr. Fernando León García, President of CETYS Universidad; and the president of the Instituto Educativo de Noroeste A.C. (IENAC), Lic. Gustavo Vildósola shared his impressions and joint vision of what to expect of CaBA, as well as members of the community who support the philanthropic matter project.

“I want to recognize the work of Mrs. Alida Guajardo, who for 31 years began the hard work of musical appreciation for children and young people who, due to economic boundaries, did not have access to these cultural exhibitions. Through PBA, they promote art, music, values ​​, and good citizenship for thousands of people. Today, we are proud to be allies, adding our visions for the benefit of the community”, said Dr. Fernando León García in his welcome speech.

“We would not have arrived without the support of sponsors. They have been the steel, an element of great importance; the choir’s boys, girls, and their families symbolize the concrete to mold this project, while CETYS is the fertile land that allows the future to be planted. And the donor is the workforce with the vision to reach this moment so that, through CaBA, we offer undreamed-of opportunities to thousands of boys and girls,” expressed Mrs. Alida Guajardo at the symbolic event.

 

“Today we not only celebrate the planting of a tree but the planting of a future where art, education, and humanism are intertwined to enrich lives and the community,” were some of the words by Lic. Vildósola Ramos.

 

Among the guests were both institutions’ sponsors, allies, advisors, and administrative staff.

 

The union between PBA and CETYS will start a deep alliance between higher education and the local community, focusing on the comprehensive development of future generations of the city.

Community space directed by PBA that will allow choral, musical, scenic, and visual education aimed mainly at girls, boys, and adolescents. Secondarily, the student sector of CETYS University and the families of both audiences will also benefit.
